As an iPhone user with a Netflix account, you have options other than watching movies on the phone's small screen; with the right equipment, you can enjoy full-sized video on a TV. Use adapter cables or Apple's AirPlay wireless technology to connect the iPhone to most modern high-definition televisions.
A video adapter cable connects your iPhone to an input on your TV. Apple and other vendors offer a variety of cables for different iPhone models and TVs.
Obtain an adapter cable that fits your TV and Apple device. For example, if the TV has High-Definition Multimedia Interface inputs and the iPhone is a 5S model, select a cable with a Lightning connector on one end and an HDMI socket connector at the other end.
Connect the adapter cable to the iPhone's docking cable port. Plug one end of an HDMI cable to the HDMI socket on the adapter cable. For other kinds of adapters, connect RCA or other video and audio cables into their respective sockets.
Connect the other end of the HDMI cable to an available input on the TV. For example, if the TV has two HDMI inputs and one of them already has a cable from a set-top box, then connect the cable to the free HDMI input.
Use the TV's remote to select the video signal input connected to the iPhone adapter cable. A picture should appear on the TV that is the same as what you see on the iPhone display.
Tap the Netflix app on the iPhone. Log in to your Netflix account using the email address and password associated with the account.
Tap the User Profile Icon that identifies who you are if you have multiple Netflix users on your account.
Select a movie or TV show available for streaming. Tap the Play button to watch the show on the television.
Apple's AirPlay technology sends video from your iPhone to an Apple TV set-top box connected to your TV. AirPlay works over your Wi-Fi wireless data network, eliminating the need for extra cables. AirPlay requires an Apple TV device.
