How to Switch From One Net10 Phone to a New Net10 Phone

By Thomas McNish

NET10 is a prepaid phone company that allows users to pay for their minutes ahead of time, at a rate of $0.10 per minutes and $0.05 per text message. The main appeal is that you don't have a contract and there's no risk of overage charges. But in today's fast-paced world of quickly evolving technology, newer, cooler phones are constantly arriving on the market. Luckily, it's pretty simple to change your phone and keep your old number.

Things You'll Need

  • New Net10 phone
  • Pre-paid minutes

Step 1

Purchase your new NET10 phone from an electronics store or other NET10 dealer.

Step 2

Visit Net10.com and hover your cursor over the "Activate/Reactivate" option at the top of the screen. Select "Transfer Number."

Step 3

Check the bubble that says "Transfer my service and phone number from one NET10 phone to another."

Step 4

Select the phone model of your new phone and click the "Submit" button.

Step 5

Choose the model of your own phone and click "Submit."

Step 6

Get your new phone's IMEI number by typing "*#06#" into its keypad. Type this 16-digit number into the space provided. Log in to your account when prompted.

Step 7

Get your new phone's IMEI number by typing "*#06#" into its keypad. Type this 16-digit number into the space provided on the NET10 Web page. Click "Submit" to continue.

Step 8

Follow the on-screen prompts to finish activating the phone, the same way you activated your old NET10 phone. A confirmation email should be sent to you, letting you know that your number has been transferred.
