How to Translate a PDF File From English to Spanish
If you have a portable document format (PDF) file that you need to distribute to people in Spain or another Spanish-speaking country, it may be useful to translate the file into Spanish for them. You can download applications from the Internet that allow you to convert PDF files into other languages, but these applications often are expensive. You can translate the text using an online translator for free. To begin, copy and paste the text from your PDF reader.
Translating the Text
Open the PDF file on your computer. Hold "Ctrl" and press "A" to select all of the text. Hold "Ctrl" and press "C" to copy the text.
Visit the Google Translate website (see Resources). Click the translation box, hold "Ctrl" and press "V" to paste your English text. Click the "To" drop-down menu and select "Spanish." Google Translate will automatically translate your text on the right.
Visit the Yahoo! Babel Fish website (see Resources). Click the translation box, hold "Ctrl" and press "V" to paste your text. Click the "Select From and To" drop-down menu and choose the appropriate languages. Click "Translate." Babel Fish allows you to translate only 150 words, so it may be useful to upload the text to a website first and then enter it as a web page to translate.
Visit the SDL Free Translation website (see Resources). Paste the language into the "Enter Text" box. Click the "To" language drop-down menu and select "Spanish." Click "Translate."
Creating a New Document
Select the copied text and press "Ctrl" and "C." This will copy the translated text. You now have a few options for what to do with the text.

Open Microsoft Word or another word processor. Press "Ctrl" and "V" to paste the text into the document Press "Ctrl" and "S" to save the document, then forward it by email or print it for your Spanish recipients.
Search online for a "word to PDF online converter." Many websites (all offering almost identical services) convert Word or TXT documents to PDF. If you need your output in PDF, do this after you've created a document in a word processor with the converted text in it.
