How to Turn Off Email on an iPhone

By Crystal Bonser

All iPhones come pre-installed with a "Mail" application. Customers can connect their email accounts to this app, making it easy to manage incoming and outgoing messages. Although the Mail app itself cannot be removed, you can disable your email account so it is no longer connected to the app, or you can remove the account all together.

Disable Your Email Account

Step 1

Tap on your iPhone's "Settings" icon.

Step 2

Tap on the "Mail, Contacts, Calendars" link.

Step 3

Tap on the address of the email account you want to disable.

Step 4

Slide the "Account" slider backwards to change the account from "On" to "Off."

Step 5

Press the Home button to return to the main screen.

Delete Your Email Account

Tips & Warnings

  • Deleting your email account through your iPhone settings menu does not delete your email account all together. It simply disassociates your email account with the "Mail" app on your iPhone.
