How to Program a Panasonic Universal Remote

If you have a lot of electronics in your living room, it can be difficult to manage all the remote controls. A universal remote control is the perfect solution. Panasonic universal remotes can easily be programmed to work with all the electronics you have hooked up to your television.

Step 1

Check the model number of your remote control. Some Panasonic universal remotes have the model number on the front, and some have it on the back. An example model number is EUR7603Z50.

Consult the operating manual for your Panasonic universal remote. If you do not have a manual, you can get one from the Panasonic website (see Resources).

Step 3

Get the code for your VCR if you have one. Look at the list of VCR component codes in the manual. For instance, for the Panasonic EUR7603Z50 remote, the component code for an Aiwa VCR is 332.

Step 4

Get the code for your digital video recorder, such as a Tivo unit, if you have one. For instance, for the EUR7603Z50 remote, the component code for a Sony Tivo is 102.

Get the code for your cable box. For example, for the EUR7603Z50 remote, the component code for a Memorex cable box is 130. If you have satellite, such as Dish Network, instead, find that code in the remote's manual.

Get the code for your DVD player. For example, for the EUR7603Z50 remote, the component code for a Philips DVD player is 103.

Step 7

Turn off the power on all the items you want to program. Press the "Action" and "Power" buttons on the Panasonic remote together for five seconds. Then press the appropriate button for the code you want to enter; for example, press the "DVD" button to enter the DVD player's code. Enter the three-digit code for that item. Then press the "Power" button and the item should come on. Repeat this process for each item you want to program into the remote.
