The HP Pavilion DV6700 Series, released in 2008, was marketed by HP as an "Entertainment Notebook PC" with an emphasis on multimedia capability. The laptop comes preinstalled with Windows Vista Home Premium. HP released the DV6700 Series with a wide variety of options, colors and finishes. The DV6700t is the base model in the series.

The DV6700t is powered by a 2.40-GHz Intel Centrino Core 2 Duo processor (T8300). The motherboard uses the Intel 965PM chipset. Some models in the same series used the 2.20-GHz AMD Turion processor

The standard SATA hard drive on the DV6700t has a capacity of 250 GB and a speed of 5400 rpm. The laptop features a DVD±RW and CD-RW dual-layer combo drive also capable of playing Blu-Ray and BD-ROM discs. The maximum data transfer rate is 24x for CD-ROMs.

The laptop features a 15.4-inch "BrightView" widescreen display powered by an Nvidia GeForce Go 8400M GS GPU capable of displaying a resolution of 1200x800.
