The Bose SoundLink includes wireless Bluetooth technology that enables you to connect and broadcast audio from any music player containing a Bluetooth component, including your Apple iPhone. The iPhone's Bluetooth component interfaces quickly with the speaker system and eliminates the hassle of using audio cables. You don't need any additional components to connect the two devices. The Bose SoundLink can broadcast audio from your iPhone from any room or area of your home or office.

Powering On and Activating Bluetooth

Power on both your iPhone and the Bose SoundLink speaker system. The Bose SoundLink's power switch is on the top of the device. Press and hold the Bluetooth button on the top of the speaker system for three seconds to activate the device's Bluetooth component. The Bose SoundLink's Bluetooth button is next to the "Aux" button and contains an icon that is in the shape of the letter "B." The Bluetooth indicator on the front of the speaker system begins to flash, indicating the component is in the Bluetooth device discover mode and active.

Linking With iPhone

To complete the Bluetooth connection between your Bose SoundLink and iPhone, tap "Settings" on your phone's home screen, and then tap "General." Tap "Bluetooth" and slide the switch next to "Off" to "On." Your iPhone starts searching for Bluetooth devices, and the name "Bose SoundLink" appears in the listing under "Devices." Tap "Bose SoundLink," and then enter the passkey displayed on your iPhone's screen, when prompted, to establish the Bluetooth connection. The Bluetooth icon appears on your iPhone's status bar.

Once the Bluetooth connection is complete, you can stream any audio, including music, podcasts and recordings, from your iPhone to the Bose SoundLink speaker system. However, you cannot stream your phone calls. Additionally, incoming and outgoing phone calls interrupt the speaker system's streaming of audio from your iPhone. After you end your call, the audio you were playing through the Bose SoundLink resumes.

Connection Problems

If the Bluetooth connection between your Bose SoundLink and iPhone fails, press and hold the "Mute" button on the speaker system -- the button containing an icon of a speaker with a line through it -- for 10 seconds until the indicators on the device flash. This process resets the Bluetooth component and automatically powers off the speaker system. Press the Bose SoundLink's power button to turn on the device, and then repeat the procedures in Section 1 and Section 2 to establish a Bluetooth connection with your Bose SoundLink and iPhone.
