How to Make a Payment on Your Verizon Prepaid Phone

By Michael Butler

Many cellphone users do not want to sign a contract with a service provider that locks them into monthly plan for a year or two, but want the guaranteed coverage a major provider like Verizon offers. For these customers, Verizon Wireless offers a prepaid service. If you sign-up for a prepaid plan, you need to pay every month to keep the plan current and active. Verizon offers several methods for you to make payments.

Step 1

Go to a Verizon Wireless Store, retailer or agent and make a payment in person. Some Verizon stores also have kiosks you can use to make payments without waiting for a customer service representative.

Step 2

Visit, sign in to your account and make a payment with a credit or debit card. If you do not have an account, you can get one by entering your telephone number.

Step 3

Dial *611 on your phone and make a payment by following the directions of the automated phone service. You can check your balance, pay a partial amount or make a full payment.

Step 4

Send a text message to 89729 with your refill PIN number, the four-digit password number you made when originally opening an account with Verizon.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can also sign up for Auto Pay to have payments automatically deducted from your credit or debit card.
