If you ever need to repair your Vizio television, it may be necessary to remove the back panel. Most of the internal components are located in the rear of the set, and aren't accessible from the front. It's easy to remove the back of a Vizio, and all you need is a screwdriver and a blanket. Even if you have no electronics experience, you can remove the back of a Vizio in just a few minutes.
Unplug the Vizio from the wall.
Fold a soft blanket into a rectangle large enough to cover the front of the Vizio. Lay the blanket on a stable work surface and place the Vizio face-down onto the blanket. This will help protect the screen from scratches and other damage while you remove the back panel.
Remove the Phillips-head screws that run in two vertical columns on the back of the Vizio. Slide the base unit out of the Vizio and set it, and the screws, aside.
Unscrew and remove the Phillips-head screws installed around the perimeter of the rear panel on the Vizio. Set the screws aside.
Remove the screws from the middle of the rear panel, and set the screws aside.
Pull the back off the Vizio until the ribbon cable connecting to the circuit board in the television is accessible. Unplug the ribbon cable from the circuit board and set the back of the Vizio aside.
Things You'll Need
The number of screws holding the back panel on the Vizio varies between models. If the back cover doesn’t pull off easily, check for missed screws.
Keep the screws separated to make reassembly easier.
Components inside the Vizio can store voltage for long periods of time. Avoid contact with circuit boards and components while the back panel is removed.
Pressing too hard while removing the screws can damage the Vizio.
