It's simple to lose track of the recovery CD that came with your Toshiba laptop, as no one ever thinks they will need it. If you find yourself in a situation where your laptop needs to be completely reset to its original settings, you don't actually need to have the CD in hand. Each Toshiba laptop comes from the factory with a recovery program installed on a secret hard drive partition.
Ensure there are no peripheral hardware devices or cables connected to your Toshiba laptop. Unplug any network cables or printers if they are attached to the laptop's ports.
