Electronics are great until they stop working as you want them to. There's no greater frustration than sitting down and trying to watch a DVD only to have your player not work--whether you accidentally sat on your remote and now there's no sound, or your 4-year-old got ahold of it and now everything's in Chinese. Luckily, there are several ways you can reset your Toshiba DVD player back to its original factory settings.
Resetting Your Toshiba DVD Player
Press and hold the "Stop" button on the front of the DVD player for five seconds. Then press the button again. If this does not reset the DVD player, move on to Step 2.
Video of the Day
Unplug the DVD player's power cord from the wall outlet for at least 30 minutes. If this does not reset the DVD player, move on to Step 3.
Press the "Setup" button on your remote. Use the "Down" button on the directional pad to get to the "Misc" tab. Press the "Right" button on the directional pad to select "Use Default Settings". Select "Yes" and press the "Enter" button on your remote. This could take three to five seconds to take effect.
Depending on the model of Toshiba DVD player you have and the year it was manufactured, results can vary. If one of the steps doesn't work, try the next. For best results, consult your owner's manual. Instructions are usually under the title of "Use Default Settings" or something like it.
