How to Send a Free Emergency Text
Text messaging has become an important part of communicating from mobile phones. Text messaging is a per month service that you must subscribe to through your mobile service provider. While you can't send free text messages from your phone, even in emergencies, you can still send free text messages in other ways. Sending text messages from your email account to a mobile phone allows you to avoid charges for sending emails. Since many mobile phones provide the ability to access email directly from the device, this method is available for most phones.
Log in to your email account.
Open a new blank email message.
Enter the recipient's text message email address in the "To" field. The text email address consists of the mobile phone number followed by the cell phone providers SMS gateway extension. For example, an AT&T customer's mobile text message address would be email@example.com. (See Resources.)
Enter your message in the body of your email.
Click "Send." Your message will be delivered to the mobile phone's text message inbox.
