If you have a street address, use it to search for the name and phone number of the person who lives at the address. Reverse address directories, which at one time were printed books, are now available online for searches. You can also research an address using property records, real estate search tools and ordinary search engines.

If you have an address and want to see the phone numbers associated with it, pull up a reverse directory website. There are quite a few of them online.

Whitepages.com has a White Pages reverse directory for searches performed by address and a reverse phone lookup directory for searches by phone number. A similar website, AnyWho, also enables you to search by name, address or phone number. Both tools provide you with the name and phone number of people at a given address.

After you have a name and phone number, gather more information by continuing to research the person you're interested in using traditional search engines and social media such as Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn.

Use a Search Engine

Don't overlook a traditional search engine such as Google or Bing to search for an address. If the person at an address has listed that address in an online resume or a business page, a search may turn up that information. You may also see rental or real estate listings that tell you who to contact about that address.

Use Google Street View and other mapping tools to see exactly what an address looks like and where it's located. The information may be helpful in determining who owns it or more information about the neighborhood.

Newspaper search sites, such as newspapers.com, LexisNexis and Google News, can also be useful if the address you have was ever mentioned in a publication. You may be able to find out who lives or works at a given address and use that information to track down a phone number.

Real Estate Search Tools

Real estate search tools give you more information about a property. Zillow.com has listings nationwide, sometimes including information about when homes were bought and sold.

Check individual land records offices to see if you can find information about who owns a property. Some counties and cities list this information online. The land records offices may not include phone numbers, but they usually include owners' names, which you can use to search in a traditional physical or online phone book or search social media.
