YouTube has become the most popular video-sharing site on the Internet, because of its large variety of available videos. If you have found a video on YouTube that you would like to keep a copy of, it is possible to capture that video from YouTube and save it to your computer. Once you have captured a video from YouTube, you can load it onto your MP3 player or burn it to disk.

Step 1

Copy the URL of the video that you would like to capture. If you right-click in the address bar, the entire URL will be selected. Choose "Copy" from the menu that pops up.

Step 2

Go to KeepVid or ClipNabber (see Resources below). KeepVid and ClipNabber are both easy-to-use sites for capturing streaming video from the Internet.

Step 3

Paste the video URL into the box provided. In KeepVid, this box is labeled "URL." In ClipNabber, the box is labeled "Paste the video URL below."

Step 4

Click "Download" in KeepVid or "Nab Video!" in ClipNabber. KeepVid or ClipNabber will process the video and display two separate download links. One link will be to download an FLV file and one will be to download an MP4 file.

Step 5

Download the video to your computer. Right-click on the link of your choice and select "Save Link as". This will bring up a window where you can name the file and select a folder where the file will save. Once you have made your selections, click "Save" and the file will be downloaded to your computer.
