Receiving faxes on a cell phone will allow you to get information when you don't have access to a computer. All that you need is a service and a web enabled phone and you can begin receiving your faxes as an email. You don't even need a fax machine, an extra phone line or any software.

Set up an account with a fax to email service. These will change any fax to a PDF file and send it to your email address. Some of the services that you can consider are eFax, Myfax or UnityFax.com. As of 2010 these range in price from $4.99 to $12.95 per month.

Register for the site. You will need to create a password and user name and choose the country where you want the phone number. Select the phone number. Enter in your credit card details. Click "Submit."

Use the phone number of the fax service. When someone sends a fax to this number you will receive it as an email.

Go to your email software on your phone and open it up. You will receive the fax in an email as a PDF attachment. Click on the document to download it and click on the file to open.
