How to Copy a DVD to a USB Flash Drive

DVD (Digital Video Disc) is a widely-used disc medium for movies, data storage, software and video games. Making a backup of a DVD's contents to a USB flash drive is useful for users who need a permanent storage solution . PC users can copy a DVD to a USB flash drive without third-party software.


Step 1

Insert the DVD into the DVD drive.

Insert the USB flash drive into an available USB drive.

Step 3

Open the Start menu from the taskbar. Click on "Computer."


Step 4

Double-click on the DVD Drive's "DVD Drive" folder. Click and drag the mouse cursor over the files inside of the DVD drive folder. Right-click on the selected files and select "Copy."


Step 5

Reopen the "Computer" folder by clicking on the "Back to Computer" icon, which looks like an left pointing arrow in the top-left corner.


Step 6

Double-click on the USB flash drive's "Removable Disk" folder. Right-click on any empty space in the folder and select "Paste" from the drop-down menu.
