Can I Get Tango on My Laptop?

Free and available for your laptop and mobile devices, Tango lets you keep in touch with friends, family and business associates via video calls. The application lets you capture and share video using a user-friendly interface and works with any laptop containing an external or built-in webcam. You can also make voice calls with Tango via the Internet and your laptop‘s built-in microphone or an external microphone.

Tango lets you make free video and voice calls to anyone around the world and no additional add-ons or plug-ins are needed. The application works with any webcam, doesn’t cause a conflict with instant message programs you may already have on your laptop and the application includes a user-friendly interface. Tango is also available for the Apple iPhone, iPod touch, iPad, Android phones and Windows Phone 7 as well as tablet computers containing wireless Internet connections.


The application requires a system containing a 1 gigahertz processor running Windows 7, Vista or XP -- 32-bit or 64-bit versions of the operating systems. Tango recommends a system containing a Core 2 Duo 1.8 GHz processor for optimum performance. Your computer also needs in addition to a webcam and microphone, a set of built-in or external speakers or headphones to hear voice calls.

Internet Connectivity

Tango also requires a broadband, wired or wireless, Internet connection with a speed rating of 100 kilobytes per second for both downloading and uploading data, if making voice calls. If making video calls, a speed rating of 512kbps downloading speed and a 128kbps uploading speed is required. Tango recommends a 4 megabytes per second downloading speed and a 512kbps speed rating for uploading data for optimum performance when sending and receiving video calls.


Navigate your computer’s Internet browser to the “Tango - Download Now for PC, Laptop” link and follow the on-screen prompts to download and save the application. Tango includes an installation wizard that guides you through setting up and using the application. Tango is not available for Mac or Linux systems.
