By Eli Chastain

Error message #0X8002006E is an error message associated with Apple computers, and appears when burning CD-R, DVD-R or data discs on Apple machines running the Mac OS X operating system. The error message is not exclusive to one Apple machine in particular, and requires multiple steps to alleviate the issue.

Restoring PRAM and NVRAM to Default Settings

Step 1

Shut down the machine experiencing the error message, making sure the machine is completely powered down. Do not unplug the machine.

Step 2

Restore power to the machine by pressing the power key.

Step 3

Simultaneously hold down "Option," "Command," "R" and "P." Hold these keys for roughly 10 seconds, or until you hear the "chime" sound indicating a proper restart of the machine. Release the keys.

Step 4

Burn the CD-R, DVD-R or data disk as normal.

Removing Faulty or Corrupt Preferences

Step 1

Click the "Users" icon, then click the name of your machine or your individual user name.

Step 2

Click "Library," then "Preferences."

Step 3

Find the file "com.apple.finder.plist" and delete it.

Step 4

Burn a CD-R, DVD-R or data disk as normal.

Tips & Warnings

  • Follow the steps in the order they appear for best results. Use new or unused CD-R, DVD-R or data disks only.
