One of the questions that is often asked when creating a PowerPoint presentation is, "How do I play music throughout my slide show?" This is a common problem with an easy fix. You can use this feature if you want to play music in the background and it's a wonderful addition to a slide show about someone's life; your audience will connect more with your presentation when you incorporate sound with your slides.
Go to Slide 1. Click on the "Insert" menu and choose "Sound and Music." A sub-menu will pop up; select "From File." Find your music file and then insert it. You can choose to have your music begin playing automatically or you can select to have it play after the click of the mouse.
Right-click on the sound icon that has been placed on Slide 1. A sub-menu will pop up; select "Custom Animation." Click on the music file in the animation order box and then go to the Media Options tab (Mac) or the Effect tab (Windows) to choose when you want the music to stop playing.
In the Media Options tab (or the Effect tab), select the After ___ Slides and put in the total number of slides you have in your presentation. You are now ready to begin your slide show.
