Comcast is one of several cable companies that offer high-speed Internet access. Customers who are new to Comcast must first activate their Internet service before it can be used. New customers usually receive an Internet installation kit that allows them to activate the service from the comfort of their home and without the need for a service technician, in most cases. The activation process is relatively straightforward, allowing it to be completed in as little as 30 minutes.
Make sure your computer is turned on. Plug the Ethernet cable provided in the activation kit into the Ethernet port located on your computer. The port is usually at the rear or left-hand side of your computer.
Plug the cable Internet modem into an electrical outlet. Insert the male end of the cable wire into the female end at the back of the cable Internet modem. Plug the Ethernet cable from the computer into the modem.
Insert the installation CD provided with the kit and follow the instructions on screen. Make sure all other applications are closed during this process.
