How to Add the Google Search Bar

The Google search bar is a free toolbar you can download and install on Microsoft's Internet Explorer or on Mozilla's Firefox Web browser. The Google search bar allows you to easily search the Web directly from the top of your Web browser, share any Web page with your friends, translate Web pages instantly, check your Google Gmail and easily access your Google search history. Once installed, you can also easily turn your Google search bar on and off.

Step 1

Open you Microsoft Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox browser. Download the Google Toolbar for your browser using the link in Resources.

Step 2

Click on the "Install Google Toolbar" link. Agree to Google Toolbar's term's of service and click "OK." Wait for the Google Toolbar to download and install. When the download is complete, your Internet browser will ask for permission to close and reopen to complete the installation process.

Step 3

Type your search query in the blank field on your Web browser's Google Toolbar. Click the "Search" button to the right of the blank search field. This will automatically open the Google search page that corresponds to your search query.

Tips & Warnings

  • To turn the Google Toolbar on and off, select "View" from your browser's toolbar. Click "Toolbars" and then select "Google Toolbar." A check mark to the left of "Google Toolbar" indicates that the Google Toolbar is active or turned on.
