All user-generated files on a Droid phone are stored on the device's memory card. These files include phone contacts, audio tracks, photos, word documents and memos. They can be backed up to your computer by connecting the Droid as a USB storage device. When connected, you can transfer files to and from the phone's memory card as if it were a portable flash drive. It takes only a few minutes to start the backup process. (See Reference 1.)
Insert the USB data cable into the USB slot of the Droid phone. Insert the other end of the cable into an open USB port on your computer. (See Reference 1.)
Tap the "Notifications" bar on your phone's screen, and drag this bar downwards with your finger. Select the "Memory Card Management" option. Tap the "OK" button. (See Reference 1.)
Click the "Start" button, and then select "My Computer." Open your phone's memory card icon from the list of available drives. Click and drag each folder within the drive onto your computer's desktop. (See Reference 1.) The computer begins automatically copying these folders to the hard drive.
