How to Block Someone's Email on AOL
If you no longer want to receive email messages from a specific person or organization, they can be blocked by using the AOL software. To configure AOL to block messages from any individual, you must do so while logged into one of the "master screen names" on your AOL account. After blocking someone through your AOL account settings, he will no longer be able to send any emails to your AOL account.
Things You'll Need
- AOL software
Open the AOL software by double-clicking the AOL icon on your desktop. Select your account's "master screen name" and enter the corresponding password. Click the "Connect" button and allow AOL to connect to the internet.
Click on the "Mail Controls" icon near the top of the AOL window. Click the "Next" button once the window has opened.
Choose the screen name that represents the email address you wish to block someone from sending mail to. Select "Customize Mail Controls for this screen name" from the list of options you are given and click "Next" to continue.
Select the "Block email from the listed AOL members, email addresses, and domains. Allow email from all others" option on the screen that comes up. Type in the email address you want to block and click on the "Next" button once complete.
Specify whether you would like to allow or block messages containing pictures and attachments from being sent and received. Click the "Next" button and save your changes by clicking the "Save" button on the next screen. Close the "Mail Controls" window. You will no longer receive emails from any email address you have blocked through the "Mail Control" settings.
