How to Boost Your T-Mobile Reception

By Shelley Smith

T-Mobile is a global cell phone service provider. Even though cell phone reception and coverage technologies are advancing all the time, there may still be a need to boost your T-Mobile reception. Boosting your T-Mobile coverage means fewer dropped calls, clearer phone conversations and faster internet speeds.

Step 1

Contact T-Mobile by dialing 611 from your handset or by calling 1-800-866-2453. Inform the customer care representative that you want to improve or boost your cell phone reception. T-Mobile can switch towers or networks in an effort to boost your cell phone reception.

Step 2

Amplify your T-Mobile cell phone reception by adding a compatible building repeater system. This system is used in homes or buildings with poor reception. This repeater system uses an internal amplifier that works in conjunction with an external antenna to improve your T-Mobile reception. The antenna communicates with the T-Mobile cell tower while the amplifier transmits to your cell phone when you use the phone in the home or building.

Step 3

Boost your T-Mobile cell phone signal by adding an external antenna. Antennas expand the coverage or reception area of the cell phone. The antenna is place directly on the cell phone hardware. You should then notice an immediate improvement in the number of bars shown on the phone's display, indicating the strength of reception.

Tips & Warnings

  • Be aware that cell phones do not operate best in buildings with thick or dense walls, in mountainous regions or in poor weather. In the absence of these conditions, the cell phone reception should automatically improve.
  • Cell phone radiation is still a much-debated issue when using any control device that is specifically designed to increase cellular reception. Research this topic so you can make a well-informed decision.
