How to Burn a CD From iTunes to Play on a CD Player

By Andrew Schrader

Burning a CD with iTunes is a simple process on any Windows or Mac OS X computer with a CD burner. Since blank CD-R or CD-RW discs can only hold up to 80 minutes of CD audio, your iTunes burn list must be under this length. However, there is no limit to the number of songs you can burn, as long as their combined length is under 80 minutes.

Step 1

Open iTunes. Click "File" and select "New Playlist." Type in a name for your playlist. The playlist appears on the left-hand side of the iTunes screen.

Step 2

Click the "Library" icon to see all audio files in iTunes. Drag and drop the desired tracks from your Library into your new playlist's icon. Select multiple files by holding down the "Ctrl" key on a PC or the "Apple" key on a Mac.

Step 3

Click on your playlist and make sure it is under 80 minutes in length. iTunes displays the total length at the bottom of the playlist. Delete unwanted titles by highlighting them and pressing the "Delete" key. Rearrange the songs by dragging their icons up or down.

Step 4

Insert a blank CD-R or CD-RW into your disc drive and click the "Burn Disc" button at the bottom of the screen. iTunes burns the songs to the CD. Eject the CD when the burning finishes.
