How to Burn FLAC Files to CD With Nero
The Free Lossless Audio Codec (FLAC) is used for storing audio on a computer. With a lossless codec, no quality is lost between the encoded size and the original uncompressed size. FLAC files are considered the best audio codec for audiophiles due to their CD quality. By default, Nero Burning ROM lacks the support for FLAC files and so cannot burn audio discs using them. A FLAC plug-in for Nero has been developed, however, so that once installed, you can burn FLAC files natively.
Close Nero Burning ROM completely. Download the FLAC plug-in (see Resources). Right-click the downloaded zip file and click "Extract Here" or "Extract to Folder."
Right-click the exported file and click "Copy."
Click "Start," and type "C:\Common Files\Ahead\Audio Plugins" and press "Enter" on your keyboard. If that folder doesn't exist, go to "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Ahead\" and locate the Audio Plugins folder (the location changes slightly depending on Nero version).
Click the window that has appeared, then right-click it and click "Paste."
Close the window and re-open Nero Burning ROM, click "Audio CD" from the compilation options, then click "New." Locate the FLAC files in the browser as you usually would, then drag them into the disc menu. Once you've compiled your disc, click "Recorder" and "Burn." Insert a blank disc, then click "Burn" to burn your FLAC files to disc.
