How to Change an OST File to PST

OST files are miscellaneous files that are mainly associated with an Outlook Offline Folder, while PST files are data files that are mainly associated with the Outlook Personal Information Store, according to FileInfo.com, an online database of file extensions. You can convert OST files with applications such as Transform XP to Vista 2.6, Recover Data for OST to PST (Trial Version) 1.0, Outlook Backup Assistant and Recovery for Outlook, among others.

  • Recovery tool

Step 1

Right-click the OST file.

Step 2

Select "Open With."

Step 3

Click the "Choose Default Program" option.

Step 4

Click the icon of the conversion software you wish to convert the OST file with.

Step 5

Click "Browse" only if you cannot see the conversion software you wish to use. Search for it, select it and click "Open."

Step 6

Click "OK." Your OST file will open.

Step 7

Click "Recover," "Start Recovery" or "Recover file," depending on the software. (If you cannot see this option, find it under the "File" menu.) Alternatively, right-click the file.
