How to Change Call Forwarding on a T-Mobile Phone

By Shawn McClain

T-Mobile includes the call forwarding feature with each mobile phone plan that it sells. The feature allows you to have incoming calls forwarded to a different phone number based on certain conditions. You can have the call forwarded anytime someone tries to call you, when you don't answer the phone, when you are on the phone and when the phone is off the network. T-Mobile devices use a menu command to set up and remove call forwarding.

Step 1

Press the "Menu" key at the bottom of the device to bring up the menu. Select "Settings" from the list of options.

Step 2

Select "Call Settings" or "Call," depending on your device model, from the list of options.

Step 3

Scroll down to "Call Forwarding" and select it.

Step 4

Select the type of forwarding for which you would like to change the number. You can select "Always Forward," "Forward When Busy," "Forward When Unanswered" or "Forward When Unreachable." You can set each of these to different numbers, but "Always Forward" will make the other options moot.

Step 5

Tap the listed phone number to change it. Press the backspace key to erase the old number and then enter your desired 10-digit number. Select "Update" to complete the change.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can remove call forwarding by selecting "Disable" below the box where you would enter the phone number.
