How to Change the Appearance of My Home Page

The appearance of your home page can be changed at any time, and to whatever you desire. Your homepage is not determined by your internet service provider, and it does not have to be set to their website. The method of changing the appearance of your home page will differ slightly depending on which browser you are using.

Things You'll Need

  • Internet Browser

Internet Explorer

Step 1

Open Internet Explorer. Navigate to your favorite or most commonly used website. This website will become your homepage.

Step 2

Click on "Tools" located in the upper right-hand corner of the window. Select "Internet Options" from the dropdown menu. This will open a new window.

Step 3

Ensure the "General" tab is selected. Click on the "Use Current" button located below the "Home page" header and underneath the white box. Click the "Apply" button in the lower right-hand corner.

Step 4

Click the "OK" button located in the lower right-hand corner. Close Internet Explorer. Open Internet Explorer again. The homepage appearance will be changed to the new homepage you selected.

Mozilla Firefox

Step 1

Open Mozilla Firefox. Navigate to your favorite or most commonly used website. This site will appear as your homepage.

Step 2

Click on "Tools" located in the upper left-hand corner of the screen. Select "Options" from the dropdown menu. This opens a new window.

Step 3

Click on the "Use Current Page" button located within the "Startup" heading, and below the white rectangle. Click on the "OK" button located in the lower right-hand corner of the screen.

Step 4

Close and re-open Mozilla Firefox. The webpage you navigated to will now appear as your homepage.

Google Chrome

Step 1

Open Google Chrome. Navigate to a website that you would like to appear as your homepage.

Step 2

Click on the blue wrench icon located in the upper right-hand corner of the screen. Select "Options" from the dro down menu. A new window will open.

Step 3

Ensure the "Basics" tab is selected by clicking on it. Click on the circle next to "Open the following pages." This will cause a blue ball to appear in the circle to indicate the option has been selected. Click on "Use Current" located to the right of the white box. The address for the website will appear in the white box. Click the "Close" button located in the lower right-hand corner.

Step 4

Close Google Chrome, and then open it again. The website you chose to appear as your homepage will open.

Safari

Step 1

Open Safari and navigate to a website that you visit frequently or enjoy.

Step 2

Click on "Safari" located in the upper left-hand corner of the screen. Select "Preferences" from the dropdown menu. A new window will open.

Step 3

Click on the "Set to Current Page" button. A new window will open. Choose the "Change Home Page" option.

Step 4

Close all windows, and close Safari. Open Safari again. Your chosen home page will now appear.

Tips & Warnings

  • You may change your homepage appearance to whatever you want as frequently as you want.
  • Several browsers offer the option to have multiple homepages open on different tabs.
  • If the website address is short, you may type it in the white box or rectangle located on the options page for the browser you use.
