How to Change the Password in the Configuration of a Windstream Router

By Daniel Hatter

Windstream has a group of routers in what they call the "SpeedStream" series that can be used for nearly any network situation. During the initial setup for Windstream routers, a user name and password are created which are then needed in order to log in to the router configuration menu. If you want to change the password for your Windstream router, this can be done in the configuration menu.

Step 1

Log in to your Windstream router's configuration utility using your current user name and password.

Step 2

Click the "Setup" button in the main menu and then click on "Admin User."

Step 3

Type a new user name in the "User Name" field (if desired) and then type a new password in the "New Password" field.

Step 4

Type the password again in the "Confirm New Password" field, and then select a configuration access option. To require the user name and password before access to the router setup is allowed, select "Require admin login to access entire Web site." To require the user name and password before access to the configuration options is allowed, select "Require admin login to access configuration pages." To never require the user name and password again, select "Do not require admin login."

Step 5

Click on the "Save Settings" button to apply your changes.
