How to Convert PDF to DOC for Free

Converting a PDF to a DOC format can be challenging without Adobe Acrobat. As of October 2010, Adobe Acrobat costs $299 on the Adobe website. You don't need Adobe Acrobat to convert a PDF file into another format, though. There are a handful of free online resources that help you convert PDFs into DOCs, such as PDF-to-Word Converter, Free PDF to Word Converter and PDF to Word Doc Converter. Once they're converted, you can open the files Microsoft Word or a compatible word processor.

PDF-to-Word Converter

Step 1

Go to PDF to Word's website (see Resources) to use the online converter.

Step 2

Click the "Browse" button under step one.

Step 3

Select the "DOC" file format under step two.

Step 4

Enter the email address where you want to receive the converted file.

Free PDF to Word Converter

Step 1

Download Free PDF to Word Converter (see Resources) on your computer and start the program.

Step 2

Click "Select File" to retrieve the PDF file you want to convert. Find and double-click the file to load it into the program.

Step 3

Select "Word Document (DOC)" for the output format.

Step 4

Click the "Convert" button to complete the conversion.

PDF to Word Doc Converter

Step 1

Download PDF to Word Doc Converter (see Resources).

Step 2

Start the program and click the "Browse" button to navigate to the PDF file you want to convert into Word. Double-click the PDF file.

Step 3

Go to the "General Options" section and select any options you want to apply, such as the number of pages, retaining the shapes and images, preserving the character spacing, or using formatted text to retain page layout.

Step 4

Check "Open Document to editing after conversion" to allow this option.

Step 5

Choose "MS Word" for the "Doc Reader" and click the "Convert to Word Document" button.

Step 6

Click "OK" to close the "Confirm" dialog box, letting you know the conversion is complete.
