How to Create an Avery Template

Creating labels can be difficult if you are trying to start the label project from scratch. Using label templates can assist with this task. Avery is a company that makes label templates. These templates are widely used because of their simplicity and standard style. There are Avery templates for different types of labeling needs. So instead of starting from scratch with your labeling project, use the Avery templates that are available on your computer and in online template galleries.

Word 2010

Step 1

Click the "File" tab and select "New." Type "Avery" in the search box.

Step 2

Review the templates that appear (see Resources).

Step 3

Download the template by clicking the "Download" icon in the right task pane. The template opens in Word 2010.

Step 4

Click the "Same Address" icon on the "Avery Template" tab. Type the address that will appear on the label. Click "OK." The label is updated with the new address information.

Google Documents

Step 1

Log into the Google Documents website with your login and password. Type "Avery" in the search box. Click "Search Templates."

Step 2

Review the templates that appear (see Resources).

Step 3

Download the template by clicking the "Use This Template" icon in the right task pane. The template opens in Google Documents.

Step 4

Select "Edit" on the menu bar and select "Find & Replace." Type the first line of the default text on the "Find What" section. Type the replacement text in the "Replace What" section. Click "Replace All." All of the default text is replaced with the replacement text.

OpenOffice

Step 1

Access the OpenOffice website. Type "Avery" in the search box.

Step 2

Review the templates that appear (see Resources).

Step 3

Download the template by clicking the "Use This" icon in the right task pane. The template opens in OpenOffice Writer.

Step 4

Click "Edit" on the menu bar and select "Find & Replace." Type the default text in the "Search For" field and type your replacement text in the "Replace With" field. Click "Replace All."
