How to Delete Music From My iPod Touch

By Brenton Shields

The iPod Touch is a model in Apple's popular iPod line of MP3 players. MP3s are convenient because they use digital media as opposed to physical media, such as CDs and cassettes; digital formats allow users to download music instantly from the Internet and, if they wish, only the songs they like instead of an entire album. MP3s can easily easily be added to your iPod Touch using the iTunes application, and they can be deleted just as simply in the event you get tired of the song or need to free up space.

Things You'll Need

  • Computer with iTunes
  • iPod Touch
  • iPod USB cable

Step 1

Download and install iTunes if it's not already on your computer. It can be downloaded from the Apple website (see Resources below for a link).

Step 2

Plug your iPod Touch into your computer using the USB cable that was supplied with the iPod.

Step 3

Run iTunes and click your iPod Touch, which should appear on the left side of the iTunes menu, to display your playlist(s).

Step 4

Click the song you wish to delete. This will highlight it.

Step 5

Click "Edit" at the top of the iTunes menu and then click "Delete." The song will be removed from your iPod Touch.
