How to Disable a CD Burning Group Policy
Windows contains built-in support for burning CDs and DVDs. System administrators can prevent users from using these features in the group policy editor, an advanced tool that controls a variety of settings for customizing and locking down the Windows operating system. If users have permission to install software on the local computer, they can still install third-party programs which burn CDs; the group policy editor only controls features built into Windows. The group policy editor is an advanced feature intended for system administrators and isn't included with home editions of Windows.
Click "Start," type "Gpedit.msc" into the search box at the bottom of the Start menu and press "Enter."
Navigate to the "User Configuration\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Windows Explorer" folder in the left pane of the group policy editor.
Double-click the "Remove CD Burning Features" setting in the right pane of the group policy editor.
Click "Enabled" in the properties window.
