How to Do a Strikeout in MS Word 2007

By Leigh Thompson

Microsoft Word comes with an arsenal of formatting and editing tools. These tools help create and show changes to Word documents. Using a strikethrough is a common editing tool. By using the strike-through instead of the delete button, the document editor documents the changes that you made to the document. This helps the reader quickly see any changes made to the original text.

Step 1

Open Microsoft Word.

Step 2

Select the text that is being modified. Double click a single word or click and drag to select multiple words.

Step 3

Click the "Home" tab.

Step 4

Click the "Strike-through" button. This button is located in the "Font" box. The button icon shows the letters "abc" with a strikebound.

Step 5

Click away from the selected text.

Tips & Warnings
