How to Fix Microsoft Visual C ++ Runtime Library

By TS Jordan

The C++ Runtime Library Error is a known error in the Windows operating system that can occur where an incompatibility exists between the existing programs on a system and the installation of Office XP. Resolving this issue requires some quick computer tweaking to get around the incompatibility. The quickest fix for this issue is to disable the "Fast Searching" feature on Office XP. While your searches will take a bit longer, you will never have to deal with the error issue again.

Step 1

Open the "Start" menu, click on the "Control Panel," and go to the "Add/Remove Programs" list.

Step 2

Scroll through the list until you find the first entry for the Office XP products (such as Word or Excel).

Step 3

Click on the "Add/Remove" button.

Step 4

Select the option to "Add or Remove Features" and click "Next."

Step 5

Open the menu marked "Office Tools" and select the "Not Available" option next to "Support for Fast Searching."

Step 6

Repeat the process for all other Office XP products.
