How to Fix Pixelation in Photoshop

By C.J. Burry

Pixelation is the result of an image being "zoomed in" too far for the picture-capturing software to produce a clear photo. Software such as Adobe Photoshop can help reduce pixelation in a picture by sharpening the edges of the photo, and then softening their composition. This can be done by following a simple set of steps with the Photoshop application.

Step 1

Open Photoshop on your computer.

Step 2

Click on "Open" in Photoshop and choose the picture from which you want to remove the pixelation.

Step 3

Right-click on the photo and choose "Layer."

Step 4

Choose "Create New Layer."

Step 5

Scroll up to the "Blending Options" button found at the top of the software.

Step 6

Select "Soft Light."This will reduce some of the pixelation.

Step 7

Scroll up to the "Filter" tab.

Step 8

Select "Noise." Scroll down to "Despeckle." This will reduce the pixelation a little more.

Step 9

Scroll to the "Image" button. Scroll down to select "Adjustments."

Step 10

Select "Brightness/Contrast."

Step 11

Adjust the brightness and contrast tools to reduce the pixelation by a little bit each degree. These can be used to remove the pixelation the rest of the way. Alter the two dials as much as you need.
