How to Fix Runtime Error 429

By Greyson Ferguson

Runtime Error 429 is an error in Microsoft Windows that occurs when Microsoft Windows Script is not completely up to date and the user attempts to access content that uses ActiveX. Because the Windows Script is not advanced enough to run the new ActiveX application, the Runtime Error 429 appears. However, this problem can be rectified by installing the updated software.

Step 1

Go to the Microsoft Windows Script update page for a download that will correct the Runtime Error 429.

Step 2

Click "Download." There will be a slight pause, then a new window will appear which asks if you want to save the file to the computer. Select "Save File." The update will now download to the computer.

Step 3

Double-click the downloaded files icon. This will open the Microsoft installation wizard.

Step 4

Follow the steps in the installation wizard to complete the setup. Once the installation is finished, there should be no more Runtime 429 errors.
