How to Get Around Internet Filters at School

By Jason Taetsch

Schools and businesses employ Internet filters to restrict students and employees from inappropriate material and websites. However some valuable and useful websites often get caught up in the filter and are censored. Use a Web proxy server, such as Surf Mo, Open Browser or Free Proxy Net, to get around the Internet filter and visit the websites without restrictions or censorship. Web proxies act as a buffer between your computer and the website to disguise the connection.

Step 1

Open a Web browser and visit a web proxy site (see Resources).

Step 2

Type in the web address you want to visit in the "URL" or "Address" field of the website.

Step 3

Click "Go" or "Browse" to visit the restricted web site without any interference from the Internet filter.
