Go to an area with an open wireless network. Many businesses such as restaurants, cafes and hotels have open wireless networks. Some locations that commonly have open wireless networks are Dunkin' Donuts, Cosi, McDonald's, Atlanta Bread Co. and Panera Bread. Most public libraries and airports also have open wireless networks.
Turn your wireless radio on. Your laptop should have a switch or button on the surface of the computer. Press or flip the button or switch to turn on the wireless radio.
Open your wireless network connections.
Search for available wireless networks.
Click the open wireless network for the establishment you are visiting and connect to it.

- Some locations do not provide power outlets. Make sure your laptop is fully charged before going to any public location.
