How to Get Rid of the Comcast Page on a Modem

If you’ve recently signed up for Comcast high-speed Internet service, you may encounter a Comcast landing page regardless of what site you are trying to visit. This is normal, and it just means you need to activate the modem and service. Doing so is simple and straightforward and typically takes around 15 minutes. Once it's complete, browse the web at your leisure.

Things You'll Need

  • Comcast Modem
  • Comcast account

Step 1

Connect the cable modem to the cable wall outlet via coax cable. Connect your (powered off) computer to the cable modem via Ethernet cable.

Step 2

Plug in the cable modem’s AC adapter. Turn on the computer.

Step 3

Open a web browser. You will be taken the Comcast activation landing page. From this page, follow the directions to download the Comcast software. Save the software to your desktop.

Step 4

Double-click the downloaded file to launch the Comcast software installer.

Step 5

Enter in your account details as prompted. Follow the on-screen instructions, give answers to the questions as prompted. Accept the license agreement when prompted. Set up a user name and password for your Comcast account. This will serve as your email address as well your log-in information for

Step 6

Follow the remaining on-screen instructions to complete installation. Restart the computer when the installation completes. When the computer restarts, you should be able to connect to the Internet as normal.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you are already a Comcast subscriber, you may have to power-cycle your modem to rid yourself of the Comcast landing page: Unplug the modem from the power adapter. Unplug the router from the power adapter. Wait 30 seconds. Reconnect the modem and router. Allow a few minutes for them both to properly power up. Open a web browser and you should be able to connect to the Internet as normal.
