How to Import Music Files to iTunes

Transferring music files from a CD or computer into iTunes is a straightforward process, since iTunes is pretty user-friendly software. Below is a step-by-step guide to help you easily import your music files into iTunes, so you can transfer them to your iPod and take your tunes with you wherever you go.

To Import Digital Music Files from a CD

Step

Download iTunes software from the website www.itunes.com. Make sure the program is running and open before you begin.

Insert your music CD into your computer CD drive. The CD information will pop up in the iTunes program.

Click on the CD name, and a full list of songs should appear. Check which songs you would like to import, or leave them all selected if you’d like to import the whole CD.

Click the iTunes button: “Import CD” on the bottom right of the screen. As the files are imported, the progress will be displayed at the top of the screen. A green check mark will appear next to each song when it completes importing.

Click “Eject CD” after the files are imported.

Repeat step 1 from importing music files from a CD.

Create a folder on your computer, and copy the songs you’d like to import into the folder. This will make it easier to transfer the songs to iTunes, as they can be imported as a group.
