How to Install WordPad

By Robert Ceville

Although Windows includes Wordpad as part of its software package, you may have to install it again if you accidentally uninstalled it, or if you see the "Riched32.dll" file error message. You do not have to perform a complete re-installation of Windows to replace this software utility. You can re-install Wordpad on your computer or laptop by adding only the accessories included in the components of Windows.

Step 1

Click the "Start" menu and select "Control Panel."

Step 2

Select "Programs" and click "Turn Windows features on or off." The Windows Components Wizard will appear.

Step 3

Go to "Accessories and Utilities" and select "Details." A list of programs and utilities will appear on the screen, one being Wordpad.

Step 4

Place a check mark next to "Wordpad" if there is not one already. Click "OK."

Step 5

Click "Next" and wait for the status bar on the "Configuring Components" screen to indicate that Wordpad has been successfully installed.
