How to Make a Background in Word 2007

Using a background in a document can add a creative spark that catches your readers' attention. You can use Microsoft Word 2007 to produce an interesting background that can be a solid color, a pattern or even a picture.

Things You'll Need

  • Computer
  • Microsoft Word 2007
  • Picture (optional)

Step 1

Open a blank document in Microsoft Word 2007.

Step 2

Click on "Page Layout" on the tool bar near the top of your screen.

Step 3

Click "Page Color" on the Page Background section of the tool bar.

Step 4

Click on the color you want if you desire a solid colored background.

Step 5

Click on "Fill Effects" if you want a more complex background. The box that opens when you click Fill Effects allows you to customizing options pertaining to the gradient, texture, pattern and picture involved in the background. The tab for each of these options is located at the top of the Fill Effects box and takes you to more options regarding each type of detailing.
