How to Make a Sprint Phone Work on Boost Mobile CDMA Service

By Robert Schrader

Make a Sprint phone work with Boost Mobile CDMA service -- in other words, phones without SIM cards -- in order to use the device with prepaid service based on your actual usage each month, rather than having to sign a contract and paying a set amount each month. Boost Mobile allows you to activate a CDMA phone online using information printed on the phone's body.

Step 1

Call Sprint customer service at 888-211-4727 to close your Sprint account if you haven't already done so. Activating a Sprint handset on Boost Mobile's network prevents the device from working with Sprint, but doesn't absolve any remaining financial liability you have with the carrier.

Step 2

Click the "Activate" link at the top of the Boost Mobile homepage. Remove the Sprint phone's battery cover and battery.

Step 3

Locate the 18-digit number under the battery -- this is the MEID serial number -- and input it into the empty field. Click "Start Activation Process."

Step 4

Select the region where you want to use the phone and, if you want, a custom phone. Input your name, address and email address. Boost doesn't require any financial identifying information, but does require personal contact information for billing purposes.

Step 5

Click "Activate."
