How to Make Google Search My Homepage

The use of Google's search engine has become so popular with Internet users that it has secured itself as an action word as well as a search engine. This popularity has many Web surfers turning to Google as their first choice for searches. Configuring the Google search as your home page allows you to be one click closer to your search results.

Google Chrome

Step 1

Click on the wrench icon at the upper right of your Google Chrome browser.

Step 2

Double-click on "Options" in the drop-down menu. This allows you to manage your home-page selection.

Step 3

Select the "Basics" tab in the "Options" menu. Scroll down to the "Home Page" section. Choose "Open This Page."

Step 4

Type www.google.com in the text box next to "Open This Page." This will configure Chrome to make Google search your home page. When this is complete, select the "Close" button at the bottom right of the "Options" menu.

Internet Explorer

Step 1

Select the "Tools" menu at the upper right of the browser window.

Step 2

Select "Internet Options" from the drop-down menu.

Step 3

Click the general tab and type "http://www.google.com" in the text box under "Home Page" This will configure Google search as your home page.

Step 4

Click the "Apply" button to save your changes.

Firefox

Step 1

Click the "Tools" menu at the upper left of the toolbar.

Step 2

Select "Options" from the drop-down menu. This opens the "Options" menu to the "Main" tab.

Step 3

Type "http://google.com" in the text box next to home page. Select "Show My Home Page" in the drop-down menu located next to "When Firefox Starts"

Step 4

Click the "OK" button. This saves your changes and configures Google search as your home page.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you would like to have Google search open automatically when you open Chrome, select the "Open Home Page" under the "On Startup" section.
