How to Make Google the Home Page

Google is the most popular search engine, according to Stat Owl, an Internet statistics research company. Approximately 86 percent of search engine users as of 2010 searched the Internet using Google. If you frequently use Google, you may want to set it as your browser homepage. Doing this brings you to the Google search page when you launch your browser. You can set Google as your homepage in any of the major Web browsers.

Step 1

Click on the "Wrench" icon in the upper-right corner of the Google Chrome browser window. Click "Options" and choose "Basics." Under the Homepage section, click "Open This Page" and type "" in the field next to it.

Step 2

Click the "Firefox" menu, choose "Options" and select "Options" again from the menu that slides out. Click the "General" Tab and select "Show My Home Page." Type "" in the address field. Click "OK."

Step 3

Click the "Tools" menu and select "Internet Options" in Internet Explorer. Click the "General" tab and type "" in the Home Page text box. Click "OK" and close the options menu.

Step 4

Click the "Safari" menu in the Safari browser. Select "Preferences" Click "General" and type "" into the Home Page box. Close the window to save the change.
