How to Open the Back of a Kindle 2
The Amazon Kindle 2 is a second generation to the original Kindle, which was developed by Foxconn and distributed by Amazon for release through their website. The Kindle is a highly advanced E-book reader, which is a device that can be used to read any kind of book though the use of a single device. In the rare event that you would need to open up the back of your kindle for the purposes of manipulating hardware or cleaning the system, you only need a few simple tools to accomplish the job.
Things You'll Need
- Plastic wedging devices
- Metal spudger
- Small screwdriver
Turn your Kindle 2 over. You will notice that there is a large aluminum back cover, under a smaller gray cover.
Use a plastic wedging device, such as an iPod opening tool, to separate the gray back cover from the Kindle and from the aluminum back cover.
Use a screwdriver to unscrew the two screws in the aluminum back cover, and use the iPod opening tools to wedge the aluminum back cover away from the Kindle. The two main covers will be removed, and you will now be looking at a plastic white inner cover.
Use the screwdriver to unscrew the 20 screws on the white plastic cover. You will now have access to the Kindle 2 hardware.
