How to Program Codes for RCA Remotes
RCA universal remotes have the ability to control a wide variety of electronic devices, such as televisions,VCRs, DVD players and digital cable boxes. Generally, users have to enter a code into the remote in order to control a specific device. However, most universal remotes come with a code search option which will allow a remote to automatically program itself to a device. If you wish to make use of the remote's code search option, you can do so easily.
Code Search Option
Turn on the device you wish to program.
Press and hold the "Code Search" button on your remote.
Press the device button that you wish to program (such as the "TV" or "Cable" buttons on the top side of your remote). Once you see the light next to the button flash once, you can release the "Code Search" button.
Press the "Off/On" button on your remote until your device turns off. You may have to do this up to 100 times, pressing the button at a rate of once per second.
Press the "Enter" button once your device turns off. You should now be able to use your remote to control the device.
Manual Entry Option
Find the codes for your particular device in your remote's manual. There will likely be more than one code present.
Press and hold the "Code Search" button on the remote control.
Press the button for your device on your remote. For example, if you are programming the remote for a television, press the "TV" button.
Enter one of the codes from the manual into your remote's number keypad. After entering the code, release the "Code Search" button.
Use the remote with your device. if the remote doesn't work, repeat the process using one of the other codes from your remote manual.
Tips & Warnings
- If you find that not every button on your remote works for the device, repeat the process until they do.
