How to Put iPhone Apps Into Folders

By Jacqui Lane

Too many iPhone applications can clutter your phone and make it difficult to find the ones you really want to use. With the introduction of folders in iOS 4, you can group similar apps together, making it easier to find specific applications without having to scroll through multiple pages. Each folder holds up to 12 apps and you can customize the name.

Step 1

Tap on the first app you want to place in a folder. Hold your finger on the app until all the icons start shaking and appear with an "X" in the upper-left corner.

Step 2

Slide the app onto another app that you want to put into the same folder.

Step 3

Tap on the white text box that appears to give the folder a different name than the one automatically generated, if you prefer. Press the "Home" button to save the apps in the folder.

Step 4

Drag apps onto the folder you just created and release to place them in the folder.
